On June 26, 2004, the Israeli forces carried out a new massacre in the city of Nablus, resulting in the loss of 9 martyrs and the arrest of dozens, in addition to causing destruction to numerous homes and businesses. Six members of the "Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades" were martyred after being cornered by an Israeli force inside one of the tunnels in the alleys of the Old City of Nablus. One of the leaders of the Brigades, Abu Qasi, described the Israeli operation as a "heinous Zionist massacre" and stated, "The Israeli enemy only understands the language of killing; every voice has the right to be heard anywhere.
